Now let’s have a look at the origin of Biryani.Turk-Mongol conqueror, Timur, introduced biryani as he arrived at the frontiers of India in the year 1398. Biryani was believed to be the war campaign diet of Timur’s army. It was cooked with an earthen pot full of rice, spices and meats that were available during that period. It would then be buried in a hot pit, before being eventually dug up and served to the warriors. Another story is that once Mumtaz visited the army barrack and found they are not having sufficient food. Observing this, she ordered that rice should be prepared in unique way and in this manner Biryani came into existence.

There are various types of Biryani found in modern times. However, each of them has exclusive taste and delicious to eat. Some of them are Calcutta Biryani, Dindigul Biryani, Arcot Biryani, Memoni Biryani etc. It has been noticed that the taste of Biryani varies from place to place.
